印度尼西亚２４日投放大约２０００只黄蜂，用以剿杀木薯害虫粉蚧。这种黄蜂长度仅有大约２毫米，幼虫寄生在粉蚧身体里并把它们吃空，因而被称作“环保特警队”，没有污染，对人类和其他动物无害。木薯原产于南美洲，向世界其他地区推广种植过程中，粉蚧“搭便车”在全球扩散。印尼是全球最大木薯种植地之一，每年栽种面积大约为１００万公顷。这种农作物在印尼的重要性仅次于大米。粉蚧虽然现阶段在印尼对木薯的危害面积不大，但是如果不加以控制，可能爆发大规模虫害，正如泰国２００８年发生的一样。上世纪８０年代，在非洲撒哈拉以南地区，人们用黄蜂对付粉蚧，挽回经济损失大约２００亿美元。
