Latest (3.26) Production and Market Situation of Cassava and Starch in Thailand

The following is the latest (March 25th) survey conducted by our website on the production and market situation of cassava and starch in Thailand, for your analysis and reference:

1. Fresh potato supply: Currently, the market volume of fresh potatoes in various production areas is showing a stable and fluctuating trend, which can still meet the basic needs of starch factories;

2. Fresh potato quality: The overall quality is good, with moderate sand and mud, and a consistent flour content of 23.5-24.5% (-0.0);

3. Fresh potato prices: Kolat Dong 1.90-2.40 (high -0.0) Kongjing 1.80-2.35 (-0.0) (baht/KG);

4. Starting factories: As of March 25th, there were 88 starting factories, accounting for 85.4% of the total, a decrease of 1.0 percentage point compared to the previous month;

5. Production situation: Stable supply of raw materials, production capacity of about 89%, powder yield of 23.5-24.5% (-0.0 percentage points);

6. Market situation: Factory inventory is still increasing on a weekly basis, and the cassava starch market in Thailand is showing a fluctuating and stable trend;

7. Domestic powder prices: Last weekend, regular prices were 12.7-12.9 (-0.0), while high-quality prices were 13.1-13.3 (-0.0) (baht/KG);

8. Bangkok exports: regular products 385-395 (-0) and high-quality products 405-415 (-0) (FOB USD/ton) last weekend;

9. Other situations: Currently, cassava raw materials in Thailand are still relatively abundant, and starch factories are operating normally;

Overall, last week, in terms of production, starch production slightly decreased compared to the previous week, while finished product inventory increased (sample value). In terms of exports, affected by the decline in demand in the Chinese market, the export market of Thai starch is currently showing a slight downward trend. The latest average price of sampled brands is reported to be flat (FOB Bangkok ordinary product - $5/ton). At the same time, the actual offshore volume of starch exports to China has continued to shrink compared to last week.
