The International Grains Council predicts that global corn production will increase by 4.3% in 2025/26
The International Grains Council (IGC) predicted on Thursday that global corn production in 2025/26 will reach 1.269 billion tons, an increase of 52 million tons or 4.3 percentage points from 1.217 billion tons in 2024/25, as corn production in the United States, Brazil, Argentina, and Ukraine will all increase.
The first 2025/26 cereal production forecast released by IGC on Thursday shows that overall cereal production will increase, with corn production leading the way in growth, but wheat and barley production will also increase
The corn production in the United States is expected to increase from 377.6 million tons in 2024/25 to a record high of 394.2 million tons.
The US Department of Agriculture will release a planting intention report on March 31st, and the market generally expects an increase in corn planting area. S&P Global predicted on Tuesday that American farmers will plant 94.3 million acres of corn by 2025, an increase of 3.7 million acres from 2024.
IGC also predicts that Brazil's corn production will reach 130 million tons, higher than the 123.3 million tons in 2024/25; Argentina's corn production will reach 59.1 million tons, higher than the 53 million tons in 2024/25.
IGC expects Ukraine's corn production to reach 30 million tons in 2025/26, higher than the previous year's 26.5 million tons.
