Beijing Derun Lin Data Analysis and Interpretation
China's corn imports plummeted in the first two months of this year, possibly due to the domestic harvest (289 million tons in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 1%) and the impact of trade war tariffs. The import volume of wheat has significantly decreased, possibly due to sufficient inventory.
The import volume of barley and sorghum decreased to 1.69 million tons (monthly average 845000 tons) and 1.01 million tons (monthly average 505000 tons) respectively, reflecting a slowdown in feed demand.
The significant decline in China's grain imports from January to February 2025 reflects ample domestic supply and tightening trade policies.
